What is the Exodus Web3 Wallet?

The Exodus Web3 Wallet is a user-friendly wallet and browser extension that lets you manage crypto assets, connect to decentralized applications (dApps), and sign transactions securely from your browser or desktop app.

Before you begin

  • Use a modern browser (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Firefox).
  • Do not install extensions from unknown sites — always use official links above.
  • Prepare a secure place to store your recovery phrase (offline & encrypted if possible).

Step 1 — Download & install

Visit the official Exodus Download page and choose the correct installer for your platform (Windows / macOS / Linux) or install the Exodus browser extension from your browser's official extension store. Never sideload from unknown sources.

Important: Verify you are on the official Exodus domain (exodus.com) before downloading.

Step 2 — Create a new wallet

  1. Open the Exodus app or extension after installation.
  2. Choose "Create New Wallet" and follow the on-screen prompts.
  3. Write down the recovery phrase exactly as shown. This is the only way to restore your wallet if you lose access.

Store your recovery phrase offline (paper or hardware-secured) and never share it with anyone. Exodus staff will never ask for it.

Step 3 — Fund and manage assets

To receive crypto, click the asset in your portfolio, choose "Receive", and copy the address. To send, click "Send" and paste the recipient address. Double-check addresses and network selection before confirming.

Step 4 — Connect to dApps (Web3)

When visiting a decentralized app, click the site's "Connect" button. The Exodus Web3 Wallet will prompt you to approve the connection and select an account. Approve only trusted dApps and inspect requested permissions.

Example: Approving a transaction

// Typical flow when a dApp requests a transaction
1. dApp constructs tx and asks your wallet to sign
2. Exodus shows tx details: amount, recipient, fees
3. Review carefully
4. Approve or reject in the Exodus UI

Security best practices

  • Keep your device OS and browser updated.
  • Use a unique strong password for the app if prompted.
  • Prefer a hardware wallet for large holdings and use Exodus as a software/management layer.
  • Beware of phishing sites — always check the URL and extension permissions.

Troubleshooting

If you have issues, consult Exodus Support for guided help. Common fixes include clearing browser cache, reinstalling the extension, or restoring your wallet from the recovery phrase (only on the official app or extension).
